Assessment

You know—I’ve been working 24 years of my life so far. And you know what I’ve noticed? I’ve noticed that people for the most part are great people. They love  their families,  their community, and their country, but sometimes, just sometimes, they can become a—pain. They’re aggravated, and I don’t think they know why. I can relate, because at some point in my life I was walking around aggravated—totally pissed-off at my circumstances. Until I found out that it wasn’t the circumstances, it was  me!. I was just plain bored! And my aggravation was just my subconscious trying to get it through my “thick”—skull. It was trying to give me a swift kick in the backside so I would wake up! Begging me to wake up out my sedentary lifestyle and search  for true meaning, meaning that resonates with my spirit, my soul. I guess that makes me one of…

And then what?

I find myself pulling away from people. These are people I consider close friends & even family; so, I am left struggling with my reasons for pulling away.

I never understood how people could be so blessed & yet struggle so much; I could never wrap my mind around the concept of blessed and struggles working parallel to each other & intertwining paths.

I’ve grown to realize a lot of these struggles are internal ones. We struggle with ourselves, who we are,  who we want to be, who OTHERS what us to be. We allow these thoughts, whispers to take over.

Those internal struggles eventually spill over into that blessed life you live.

And then what?

A Year or So Later

I decided to update the “Home” or “About Me” section of my blog today! I am going to leave my previous post as well, because while I am updating this section, that information is still very valid to my life and who I am.

I am still a mother, a student, young woman who is trying to find her way & be the best possible version of myself I can be. Since I created this blog, a little over a year ago, I have faced many obstacles. I choose to keep these struggles to myself. I do not share them with family or friends, but I have found extreme comfort in sharing with the Lord.

I am not where I want to be in my faith but I am still learning!

My writing has declined as I find it harder to put my thoughts into sensible sentences.

Updating this section is just a reminder that their is continued growth in my life. Although I may not be were I envisioned myself last year, 2 years prior or even 5 years prior, I am still on the path to inner satisfaction and ultimate greatness!

Amazon Kindle Reader

Intersted in reading a book, but you can’t find it in the store? Or maybe you are at home and comfortable in your bed on a cold & lazy day. The answer to these situations is Kindle reader on Amazon. Amazon allows you to digitally order books that will download directly to your Kindle cloud. Most of the books are at unbeatable prices as well.

Below I will list a couple of the books I have ordered through Amazon Kindle over the past couple of months:

The Theory of Psychoanalysis – $1.06; compared to $15 for paperback & hardcover

6 Ways to Lose Belly Fat Without Exercise! – $8.06; compared to $12 for paperback

There are all types of books to fit each persons individual needs.

Save on Books this Semester

With the Spring semester rolling around, I thought I’d share some information on available books at Amazon.com.

Amazon has the option to rent the textbooks and ship back, which I find very beneficial. Also a lot of times the rental price from Amazon is cheaper compared to your campus book store.

I strongly suggest checking out Amazon; here are a few I rented over the past few semesters:

Learning is Fun

Over the last couple of weeks I have been practicing with Kenzy on recognizing her letters, mostly her name. She can say her ABC’s, but will she recognize the letter A if she saw it?    ( At this time the answer is no, lol ). The activities that we are successful at I will share.

(My apologies for the picture quality, in advance.)

Materials needed:

  1. Construction paper (any paper can be used; I just personally prefer construction paper.)
  2. Foam letters – they are sticky on the opposite site
  3. Your child  🙂 And thats it!!

Step 1: Prep

Place the word or letters you are wanting to practice on the construction paper. We are practicing her name!

I set up 4 groups. Each Group had 1 letter of her name & 3 that did not.

Step 2:

She is too pick out the a Letter and match it to what is on the paper. Preferably in order, but it doesn’t matter!

The finished Product!

This project did not take long; we did it about 3 times (different words) because she was so excited about the sticky letters!

Tip: It is a good idea to have everything set up (letter groups & words on paper) ahead of time if your child is not patient, like mine! 🙂

Enjoy!

Pumpkin Fun

Kenzy is suppose to bring a decorated pumpkin to school Monday. I wanted to take the less messy route; I found this cat idea on youtube.

**It may not be as easy to have your child help because of the materials used, but its possible. **

Pictures below:

Trust

I am going to start by saying I am not the most devout Christian. Caught your attention, didn’t I? There is a lot of room for me to grow and learn when it comes to God. …

Recently my entire family was faced with a pretty tough situation. Like all people we handle unexpected and challenging news differently. Some people prefer to be alone, while others can use the company! Some of us immediately turn to God while others may become angry with him.

I will admit, I was very angry at God!

Growing up or even as adults we may all have questions about certain things or may lack some sort of understanding. I believe that is natural & comes with growing as a Christian.

With this situation my questions were not for clarity, but rather blame and resentment. I know some of you will read this and think negatively about me & others may understand exactly where I am coming from! I have not lived a life of pink fairies and unicorns; I understand difficultly & hard times; I have experienced  rough patches and have had bad days; So it is not at all that I cant take displeasing news – it is simply, nothing has ever hit me or affected me as hard as this recent situation!

It took some digging and deep searching to realize that I cannot place blame and be angry, especially not with God. There are always going to be things we don’t understand; Events will take place & we will look for a reasonable answer — but the truth is: there is hardly ever a text book answer to life. We all know God has a plan, but we must BELIEVE he has a plan! We have to truly open our hearts; we have to accept & trust what God has laid out for us. And when it is hard to grasp what is in front of you pray! We are so used to living life by seeing what is in front of us. Most of us are “see it and believe it” type of people. You cant be that way with your faith!

My God has provided me with way to many blessings for me to ever doubt he will take care of me. He has carried my family through some dark times; God has always loved and protected Us. He does not deserve anything less than my trust and love.

I will not lie and say I am at comfort with the situation, but I understand I can not worry myself. I understand that I must continue to pray and continue to thank him!

I decided to share this because I know that we all will go through some sort of situation(s) that will truly test our faith! I hope that someone will read this and know that you are not alone & remember to not give up. Open your heart & allow trust to enter it!

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.”

Are you dancing in the Rain?

It’s not Monday, but motivation is good any day- right?!

Do you find yourself dwelling on all the negative things you have encountered in life?

Are you allowing the storm to cloud your outcome, your growth?

We have to be willing to take control of our lives especially when things seem out of control! There will always be bad days;  you can also bet that you will experience a day worse than the bad once you had last week. Its about how you handle the unpleasant things & how you deal with the obstacle(s).

I know we would all like to pop out that easy button & just skip to all the joyous, fun, & easy times in life.

BUT in order for us to grow we need to sit through that storm; we need to embrace the rain, we need not to fear the thunder. In order for us to grow & blossom into who we are suppose to be we must dance in the rain!

10 day Smoothie Challenge

I recently participated in the JJ Smith’s Green Smoothie challenge. I honestly dont know why I do these things anymore.

I participated in the modified challenge/cleanse, so I only drank 2 smoothies a day & ate 1 healthy meal. You are allowed to snack on veggies and some fruits in between while practicing self control.

I was pretty nervous about the taste of the smoothies, but I actually enjoyed most of them & even walked away with a favorite flavor & runner up! 🙂

I didn’t drop a whahhpping 15 pounds or nothing amazing like that, but I am down 4 pounds…

That’s a start people!!

Aside from this week (because we are moving) I have been hitting the gym 2-4 times a week. I am either participating in class called XFit or  I am working out on my own, but using a lot of what I learned in XFit!

Its gonna be difficult missing the gym this week as well as coming off the cleanse. Once we get settled in I plan to give it one more go & see if I can loose 5 pounds instead of 4!! #goals haha 🙂

Anyone give it a try? If so, did you enjoy your results??
